PTO Meeting: Choosing Love with Scarlett Lewis

The Hindley PTO invites you to our next meeting on Wed. Jan. 11th at 7 p.m. in the Common Room. Our guest speaker will be Scarlett Lewis, founder of the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation. Following the death of her son Jesse at Sandy Hook, Scarlett was inspired by a simple three-word message he had scrawled on their kitchen chalkboard. The message of “nurturing healing love” guided her to start the Choose Love Foundation, which provides educational materials and a curriculum based on the fundamental concepts and skills of social and emotional learning, informed by current research and neuroscience. The goal of the Choose Love Program is to provide children with the knowledge, attitude and skills they need to choose love in any situation. There will be a brief Q & A after Scarlett’s presentation. We hope you can join us! For additional information, please click here.

Should you have a problem or question, the administration requests that you follow the Chain of Communication in order to resolve issues as quickly and efficiently as possible:

For parents who have children receiving special education services and/or have a 504, we also want to make you aware of district resources that may be helpful:

Brooms and Books is Coming!

bookfairimage

The Hindley book fair starts next Tuesday 10/25, and we are looking forward to your support. If you are unable to join your child/ren during their class visit, PLEASE send in the pre-pay form by Friday OR (preferred) pay online through www.pay4schoolstuff.com. The online option will close Sunday 10/23.

This year we are offering working parents the opportunity to come shop with their child/ren on Thursday morning before school! Come grab a coffee and a bagel and see what the book fair has to offer! “Bagels, Books & Buddies”  will be held in the library, with Mr. Colella reading books in the common room once your shopping is done.

There are still volunteer slots available, for set up and especially during class visits. This is a fun and important role in helping children make their selections. Why not coordinate your slot with your children’s visit? Thank you!

Any questions, please contact Dorinda Bonanno.
