ASPEN Instructions

If you are new to the Darien Public School system or have never used ASPEN before, click here to request a username and password.

If you have used ASPEN before, click here to go to the parent portal. If you can’t remember your user name, it is typically the first initial of your first name followed by your last name. If you have forgotten your password, click on the “I forgot my password” link on the ASPEN login page. If you believe you have used ASPEN before, but cannot remember your user name or password, email aspen@darienps.org. You must confirm your ASPEN information every year even if nothing has changed.

Once you have logged into ASPEN, you should see a box labeled “Tasks” on the right hand side of your screen, as seen below (click on the picture to enlarge it):

Click the “Initiate” button on the far right side of your screen, and a pop up window will open. From the “Workflow” menu select “Contact and Medical Emergency Information, as show below:

You should now see a magnifying glass option that will allow you to search for each child associated with your Aspen account. You must select and update the contact information for each:

ASPENSelectStudent

Select the student name and click “Next” at the bottom of the screen. This will open the Contact and Medical Emergency Information.

You must click on each of the six tabs of student information by clicking on the titles of the tabs:

Review (and update, if necessary) the information on the Demographics, Guardians, Contacts, Emergencies, Consents, and Releases screens.  Put your initials in the appropriate box on the Releases screen. Then click “Next” at the bottom of the screen, and finally “Finish.” Repeat this process for each child in the Darien Public Schools system.

For more information, consult the “Parent Portal Instruction Guide” that you will see on the left side of your screen when you first login to ASPEN:

The contact information in ASPEN is what the School Messenger service uses to communicate with parents.* To ensure that you have opted in to School Messenger’s text alert system for the year, text “optin” to 68453.
