Darien Library – Read Your Way: Understanding Dyslexia and Empowering Readers | Oct 13th

To celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Month, join us for an inspiring evening as we explore dyslexia through the perspectives of a student, a mentor, and a nationally recognized literacy expert.

Whether you’re a parent, educator, student, or community member, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of dyslexia, practical tools to support readers, and a renewed appreciation for the strengths, resilience, and creativity that so often accompany different ways of learning.

The evening’s speakers will include:

Crosby Stelben, Darien resident and creator of Read Your Way, will share her personal journey growing up with dyslexia, ADHD, and auditory processing differences, and how discovering the right tools transformed her relationship with reading and learning.

Jake Sussman, founder of Superpower Mentors, will share his own story of growing up with dyslexia and how it inspired him to help young people build confidence, recognize their strengths, and embrace the unique gifts that often accompany different ways of learning.

Margie Gillis, President of Literacy How, will discuss the evolving understanding of dyslexia, including its updated definition, explain evidence-based reading instruction and supports, and share practical strategies and resources for families and educators
