Additionally, there has been an initiative launched by a fellow elementary school parent in town that may be of interest. Here is the email from Armel Jacobs, who has been involved in the DEI Committee at Tokeneke:

You may have heard that times have been difficult for many Darien teachers/staff.  I know that many of you feel that our incredible school system, and all of those employed by it, are the heartbeat of this community.  They carried us in the pandemic and now they need our support. In truth, they’ve needed it for a while. Those are some of my reasons for wanting to support our teachers and staff. In case you have some reasons of your own, or would like to generally express your support, a few local parents and I have come up with a little way to help accomplish that.  With any luck, we will spread the word far enough to mobilize the town to show its gratitude on a wider scale.

The #DarienHeartbeat campaign is a simple way to give thanks. We hope you will participate and spread the word! Feel free to forward this email, and/or the following link:

Completed hearts can be dropped off at the Darien Library front desk before Tuesday 12/13, or at BOE just prior to their meeting on that same evening, which starts at 7:30pm.

We hope you will join us in showing love and gratitude to our amazing teachers and staff. Thank you – here’s to having a grateful heart this holiday season!
